About the maker: Welcome to Rachel Austin Art where you will find a large selection of unique cards, boxed notecards and prints based on Rachel's artwork. Rachel is self taught and has been a full time artist since 2006 when, after getting a degree in finance, she realized art was probably a better path for her. She got her start on her popular map painting series and loves to collect old maps. Maps have a lovely way of showing us where we’ve been, where we are and where we want to go. Rachel is also plant and garden smitten. She volunteers at a public garden in Portland in her free time and loves to be in her yard. Her paintings are made with watercolor and acrylic on wood to create understated and meditative pieces. Rachel’s studio is in her light filled 1926 Portland bungalow where she prints cards and prints and paints for customers all over the world.
